GloRilla Faces Drug Possession Charges After Georgia Burglary Probe

GloRilla Released Following Drug Possession Charges

GloRilla has recently been released from Forsyth County Jail in Georgia after posting a $22,260 bond. She turned herself in due to charges related to felony drug possession. The 25-year-old rapper was arrested on July 22 after authorities found “a significant amount of marijuana” in her home during a response to a burglary report.

Investigation Details

While investigating the burglary, local authorities couldn’t locate the initial suspects. Their inquiries brought in Major Crimes detectives, who noticed a strong smell indicative of illegal drugs. This led the Lanier Regional Drug Task Force to secure a search warrant for GloRilla’s residence.

According to the investigation statement, a noteworthy amount of marijuana was found in plain sight inside her master bedroom closet. The homeowner, Gloria Woods, was charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana and possession of a Schedule One controlled substance.

GloRilla’s Response

Addressing the situation on X, GloRilla clarified: “My house got home invaded Saturday while I was in Indianapolis performing for the WNBA All-Star Game, and instead of focusing on finding the suspects, they focus on some cannabis.” She emphasized her innocence with a three-point statement: “So no, I wasn’t busted. My house got robbed. I wasn’t home.”

The rapper further remarked, “Long story short, my house gets home invaded and I’m the only one that gets arrested.”

Ongoing Investigation

The investigation into the burglary is still active. Sheriff Ron Freeman stated, “The homeowner is a victim of a serious crime, and we are committed to bringing the suspects to justice.” Detectives have recovered evidence that may link to the intruders. However, Freeman also stressed the importance of enforcing the law in all cases.

An official statement criticized the police response, mentioning, “When her family members called law enforcement, instead of investigating the violent home invasion, they sought a search warrant based on what they believed was a small amount of marijuana.” The statement concluded that GloRilla is a victim in this case, not a suspect.
