Assault and Hospital Incident

Singer-songwriter Todd Snider has put his tour on hold following a disturbing incident outside a hotel. Reports indicate that he was assaulted and later arrested for allegedly causing a disturbance at a Salt Lake City hospital.

On Monday, Snider’s team announced the tour cancellation on Instagram, revealing that he would be “unable to perform for an undetermined amount of time.” The cancellation came just before his upcoming November 1 show in South Salt Lake City, part of his "High, Lonesome and Then Some Tour." They shared that Snider sustained serious injuries from a violent assault and necessitated medical attention.

Police Response and Details

The South Salt Lake Police Department released a statement indicating that officers responded to an assault involving a 59-year-old man shortly before 4 p.m. local time. While specifics about the incident remain limited, the authorities encourage anyone with pertinent information to step forward.

After being taken to a local hospital for treatment, Snider was eventually discharged. However, he allegedly refused to leave initially. A Salt Lake City Police Department spokesperson noted that after leaving, Snider returned to the hospital and threatened staff members.

Arrest and Charges

As a result, Snider was arrested and booked at the Salt Lake County Jail. He faces charges of disorderly conduct, making threats, and trespassing. Following his release, no formal charges have been filed against him yet.

The Salt Lake City District Attorney’s office hasn’t provided any immediate comments, and Snider’s representative has also refrained from making statements.

Tour Plans

Snider, who released his latest album High, Lonesome and Then Some in October, began his tour at the end of that month. Originally set to conclude on November 16 in Bozeman, Montana, all upcoming dates have now been canceled. Currently, Snider aims to resume touring in mid-January.
