While the on-screen chemistry of Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor charmed audiences in *2 States*, they were not the first choices for the roles. Author Chetan Bhagat recently revealed that he initially envisioned Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra for the film adaptation of his popular novel.

Chetan Bhagat reveals the initial casting decisions

Chetan mentioned, “At one stage, Vishal Bhardwaj considered making it. There were talks about casting Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Priyanka Chopra. I believe articles mentioning these names did circulate.”

He expressed his surprise when Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were announced as the leads, stating, “When I heard about a new director and these young actors, I thought, ‘okay, this is not what was initially discussed.’ The fresh casting definitely brought a youthful vibe to the film.”
