Royel Otis has expanded their schedule with additional shows for their upcoming Australian tour.
The indie-pop duo will host extra performances in Brisbane and Sydney following their initial shows selling out fast.
New Show Details
The newly added dates are set for The Fortitude Music Hall on Tuesday, October 21st, and at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Saturday, October 25th. Tickets for these extra shows became available today (July 18th) at noon AEST.
After nearly a non-stop series of international festival appearances, including Glastonbury, Governor’s Ball, and Lollapalooza, Royel Otis will return home. They’ll also embark on their ‘meet me in the car’ tour across North America before touching down in Australia.
Supporting Their New Album
The band is touring to promote their second album, hickey, which is set to release on August 22nd via OURNESS / Capitol Records. This album is highly anticipated as it follows their successful debut, PRATTS & PAIN, released in 2024.
Regarding the intriguing title of the new album, the duo explained, “…because love bites harder than any other emotion in the world.”
The announcement of their album came alongside the drop of the first single, “moody.” This track was teased during a sold-out concert in Los Angeles back in May.
About “moody”
Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic shared that “moody” is about a girl, co-written with Grammy-winning songwriter Amy Allen and produced by Blake Slatkin, known for his work with Gracie Abrams and Charli XCX.
Maddell commented, “We’ll start working on some stuff in early January. We’ve got a little bit of time away to just work on some music.” He added that their creative process is organic, likening it to building a cake, where they share ideas and demos, creating something unique together.
Last year was monumental for Royel Otis, achieving a top 10 album, making their Billboard Hot 100 debut, and winning ARIA awards, including Best Group. Their homecoming show at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion sold out, and they even entertained fans with a DJ set at Beyond the Valley.
Royel Otis’s hickey releases on August 22nd via OURNESS / Capitol Records (pre-order available).
