NRL Official Responds to AFL's Snoop Dogg Booking: 'This Bloke Can Sing!'

NRL Addresses Teddy Swims Performance Rumors

The National Rugby League (NRL) has set the record straight regarding rumors about US artist Teddy Swims potentially canceling his performance this weekend at the grand final.

Rumors of Cancellation

Speculation heightened after Swims, hailing from Georgia, had to cancel his shows in Hawaii last week on the advice of his doctor. He took to Instagram last Friday to explain, stating, “My doctor has not cleared me to sing, and I need a little time to recover before I can give you the show you deserve.”

Upcoming Performances

Despite the concerns, Swims is still slated to carry on with headline shows across New Zealand and Australia beginning next week. Frontier Touring has confirmed that there will be no alterations to the planned tour schedule.

NRL’s Response to Rivalry

Earlier, NRL head Peter V’landys took a jab at the AFL’s choice of Snoop Dogg for their grand final. He expressed appreciation for Swims, highlighting his vocal talent and immense popularity, stating, “[Swims] can actually sing… he’s a global act, he’s got billions of downloads and he’s also gonna promote the NRL in America.”

Performance Highlights

The anticipation around Swims’ show has generated positive excitement, especially considering his lineup of Australian performers. Tash Sultana, Baker Boy, and Jessica Mauboy joined him on stage, with Mauboy captivating the audience with “Beautiful” and Sultana delivering a breathtaking performance.

Baker Boy also made an appearance, bringing along a dynamic choir featuring Emma Donovan and Kee’ahn, who contributed to his recent single, “THICK SKIN,” from the upcoming album DJANDJAY.
