Kantara Chapter 1 Surpasses Chhaava, Achieves Over ₹800 Crore Worldwide
Kantara Chapter 1 claims its position as the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, grossing over ₹800 crore globally.
The title of the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 has shifted from Chhaava to Kantara Chapter 1. The film, directed by Rishab Shetty, has surpassed ₹800 crore in box office collections worldwide, edging past Chhaava’s lifetime earnings of ₹807 crore.
Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Update
In just two weeks, the production house Hombale Films reported that Kantara Chapter 1 earned ₹717 crore worldwide. This milestone was announced through a social media post. As the film entered its third week, it continued to draw crowds, raking in ₹38 crore net in India during the third weekend alone.
Over the next six days, Kantara added ₹92 crore to its global total, reaching ₹809 crore. This amount overtakes Chhaava’s final revenue of ₹807 crore.
However, some reports suggest that Kantara Chapter 1 may still be shy of Chhaava’s record. According to Sacnilk, the film’s worldwide gross could be around ₹775 crore after 21 days. The film has generated approximately ₹556.75 crore net in India, along with an estimated $13 million from international markets. An English version is also set for release soon.
The Highest-Grossing Indian Films of 2025
On the list of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2025, Kantara Chapter 1 takes the lead, followed closely by Chhaava. Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara is in third place with ₹576 crore, while Rajinikanth’s Coolie earned over ₹500 crore, ranking fourth. Yash Raj Films’ War 2 rounds out the top five with ₹365 crore. Other significant films include Mahavatar Narsimha, OG, and Lokah Chapter 1, each grossing over ₹300 crore this year.
