Details of the Fire Incident
At the time of the incident, Veer and Shoriya were alone in their fourth-floor apartment at Deepshree building around 2 AM. Their father, Jitendra Sharma, was at a bhajan programme, and their mother, Rita Sharma, was in Mumbai for work.
The local police suspect that a short circuit initiated the blaze, which primarily affected the drawing room. Authorities believe the boys succumbed to smoke inhalation, not burns, while they slept.
Rescue Efforts
Neighbours detected smoke and acted swiftly. They broke down the door, pulling the unconscious siblings from the apartment, and rushed them to the hospital, but tragically, they were pronounced dead upon arrival. Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of those nearby, the flames were contained with fire extinguishers, preventing further damage.
The police reported that significant damage occurred to the drawing room, and the boys’ bodies were released to their family after Rita returned from Mumbai. In line with the family’s wishes, the children’s eyes were donated to an eye bank.
An FIR has been filed under appropriate legal provisions, and an investigation is underway to determine the precise circumstances surrounding the fire.
