Huma Qureshi and Sunny Singh to Star in Lucknow Short Film Festival
The Lucknow Short Film Festival is coming up, featuring prominent actors Huma Qureshi and Sunny Singh.
Film enthusiasts can look forward to the sixth edition of the Lucknow Short Film Festival, which will be held at UP Sangeet Natak Academy over the weekend. Set to start on October 25, this two-day festival promises exciting activities.
On the final day, Huma Qureshi and Sunny Singh will captivate the audience in a compelling discussion alongside event organizer Renuka Tandon and filmmaker Gaurav Dwivedi, focusing on “Women and Identity in Modern Indian Cinema.”
“We are spotlighting 20 short films in various languages from hundreds of entries,” Renuka shared. Feature directors like Jyotika Kapur Das (of *Chutney* fame) and other esteemed filmmakers are on the selection panel. The languages represented include Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, and English.
Additionally, Laksh Maheshwari will showcase his poetic storytelling titled *The Story of Four Assistants*, while Sanyukta Sinha and her troupe will perform a kathak ballet named Sacred Bells.
Additionally, an impactful discussion titled “Film Festivals as Catalysts for Independent Filmmakers – The Short Film Revolution” will be hosted by Jyoti Kapur Das and will include award-winning directors, emphasizing the evolving narrative styles in Indian cinema through short films.
Adding to the festival’s flair, this year will feature a vintage-inspired red carpet event called Shwet and Syah, allowing attendees to embrace the traditional glamour of Indian cinema while also honoring iconic directors like Raj Kapoor and Guru Dutt.
The inauguration will be graced by Prof. Rita Bahuguna Joshi, former Cabinet Minister and cultural advocate, alongside Mr. Dhiraj Singh, Vice Chancellor of FTII.
