Foo Fighters Announce 2026 U.S. Stadium Tour and Release ‘Asking for a Friend’

Foo Fighters Return to the Stage

The Foo Fighters made a subtle yet significant comeback in September with a series of intimate club performances across the United States, introducing new drummer Ilan Rubin to fans. This was just a precursor to their larger concerts in Asia earlier this month. Now, the band has announced an exciting North American stadium tour scheduled for the summer of 2026.

Upcoming North American Tour

The tour kicks off on August 4 at Rogers Stadium in Toronto and wraps up on September 26 in Las Vegas. Fans can start purchasing tickets on October 31.

Dave Grohl expressed his enthusiasm about returning to the stage, stating, “Since our return to the stage in San Luis Obispo five weeks ago, we have been reminded of why we love and are forever devoted to doing this Foo Fighters thing.” He highlighted the joy of reconnecting with their loyal fans and the thrill of performing again.

Special Opening Act

Queens of the Stone Age will be the opening act for the tour. Grohl reminisced about his longstanding friendship with lead guitarist Josh Homme, recalling their early days and shared musical experiences. He described the collaboration as a “lifelong bond” that extends beyond music itself.

New Music from Foo Fighters

In addition to the tour announcement, the Foo Fighters released a new single titled “Asking For a Friend.” Grohl described the song as one for those who have patiently awaited brighter days, infused with hope and resilience.

Recent Changes in the Band

Since their last album, But Here We Are, released in 2023, the band has undergone significant changes, especially after the passing of drummer Taylor Hawkins. Grohl took over drumming duties for the album, but they later hired Josh Freese for the tour, who parted ways with the band in May under surprising circumstances.

Following that, the Foo Fighters enlisted Ilan Rubin as their new drummer, while Nine Inch Nails made a unique move by hiring Freese, creating a rare situation in rock music history known as "Drummergeddon." This phenomenon saw multiple bands, including Pearl Jam and the Who, experiencing drummer changes this year.
