## Embracing Evolution in Fashion

Italian luxury brand Prada showcased a striking mix of military-inspired shirts paired with bell-shaped skirts and sophisticated evening gloves during their latest collection on Thursday. This collection aimed to challenge the longstanding perceptions of glamour.

### Deconstructing Uniformity

Co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons revisited the concept of uniforms in their Spring/Summer 2026 presentation at Milan Fashion Week. Their approach emphasized breaking down traditional outfits into new forms.

According to Simons, the collection represents a “recomposition” of garments designed to enhance the wearer’s freedom, sometimes allowing the fabric to barely graze the body. The use of faux uniform-style pockets on a softly flowing dress complemented a series of jumpsuits reminiscent of boiler suits, elegantly matched with heels and a sleek black jacket.

### Innovative Patterns and Textures

The designs featured loosely worn bras, skirts suspended from the shoulders, and dresses with lifted hems to reveal additional fabric underneath. In an interview backstage, Simons described the collection as an “anti-sculptural approach,” which reflects a departure from conventional silhouettes.

“A woman can feel amazing, free, chic, and luxurious in a uniform just as much as in a flowing dress,” he noted. He further mentioned the clothes’ versatility, highlighting that they can be styled in various ways.

### Redefining Elegance at Fendi

Simultaneously, Fendi, another renowned Italian label, presented a fresh vision of elegance the day prior. Creative director Silvia Venturini Fendi explored soft, sensual silhouettes and vibrant colors, encapsulating what the brand termed “nonchalant elegance.”

This collection included scrunched balloon-hem jackets, tiered skirts, and sheer organza shirts for both genders, along with silk cable-knit tops and skirts. In keeping with Fendi’s leather and fur heritage, bags took center stage, with one intricately crafted from beads in a floral design that echoed throughout the collection.

“It’s all about a relaxed and colorful sense of ease combined with romantic elegance,” Fendi explained in the show notes. Importantly, she emphasized that “simple gestures” can encompass “complex work behind them.”
