Abhishek Bachchan Clears Up Rumors on Awards and PR: Hard Work Over Hype
Abhishek Bachchan Responds to Accusations of Award Buying and PR Manipulation
After a social media accusation about awards sales, Abhishek Bachchan stepped up to clarify his stance.
Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan is not letting critics get under his skin. Recently, a user on X (formerly Twitter) accused him of purchasing awards while relying heavily on public relations to remain in the spotlight. This accusation followed his recent win of a Filmfare award for his role in *I Want to Talk*.
Setting the Record Straight
A journalist publicly claimed, “While he’s a nice person, #AbhishekBachchan exemplifies how buying awards and aggressive PR can maintain relevance—even without a single blockbuster.” The post also labelled his award for *I Want to Talk* as undeserved, suggesting it was seen only by paid reviewers. The author concluded there are “far better actors” deserving of such accolades.
In a confident response, Abhishek asserted that he has never bought an award nor relied on PR tactics. He stated, “To clarify, I have never purchased an award nor engaged in aggressive PR. Just hard work, dedication, and effort. But I doubt you’ll believe me.” He concluded with a motivational statement, “The best way to silence such claims is by working harder and proving them wrong.”
When the journalist called his statement a “subjective opinion” and wished to see him in more mainstream projects, Abhishek reiterated, “Claiming I ‘buy’ awards and engage in PR seems like a personal attack, sir.” He pressed the importance of responsibility in journalism, stating, “It’s not fair to tarnish two decades of hard work frivolously.”
Support from Fans
Support poured in for Abhishek from fans. One user mentioned, “Many may judge by box-office numbers, but true art should be assessed on more than just that.” Another fan commented positively about the quality of his performances, demonstrating appreciation for his work.
This year, Abhishek has starred in titles like *Be Happy*, *Housefull 5*, and *Kaalidhar Laapata*. He is also set to feature in Siddharth Anand’s upcoming film, *King*, alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan.
