Zubeen Garg’s wife Garima Saik, sister Palme and uncle file complaint with Assam CID: ‘We want a thorough probe’

Zubeen Garg’s uncle, Manoj Kumar Borthakur, indicated they submitted the complaint to the CID via email. The singer passed away in Singapore on September 19 at the age of 52.

The family of the late singer Zubeen Garg has approached the Assam CID regarding his alleged drowning in Singapore. According to reports, Zubeen’s relatives seek a comprehensive investigation into the situation surrounding his death. The complaint is signed by his wife, Garima Saikia; his sister, Palme Borthakur; and his uncle, Manoj Kumar Borthakur.


Zubeen Garg’s last rites were held in Kamarkuchi village, Assam on September 23.

Zubeen Garg’s family takes action with CID

Manoj revealed they forwarded the complaint to the CID last Saturday, saying, “We desire a thorough investigation into the circumstances of his death.” A senior police official confirmed receipt of the complaint and stated they are currently reviewing it.

Insights from the SIT team

A representative from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) mentioned they are already looking into the events surrounding Garg’s death. The family’s complaint will be taken into account during the ongoing investigation.

The SIT visited Zubeen’s residence in the Kahilipara area of Guwahati, noting they had important questions for the family. Their statements are currently being recorded.

Previous appeal from Garima regarding Siddharth

A week prior, Garima had urged for the withdrawal of all FIRs against Zubeen’s manager, Siddharth Sharma. In a heartfelt video message, she pleaded, “I ask everyone to dismiss any negative sentiments directed at Siddharth… Zubeen had many unfinished projects, and I cannot carry them out alone. I also hope all FIRs against Siddharth are retracted.”

Raids at Siddharth Sharma and Shyamkanu Mahanta’s residences

On September 25, both the SIT and CID teams conducted searches at the residences of Siddharth, Zubeen’s colleague Sekhar Jyoti Goswami, and Shyamkanu Mahanta, the organizer of the Northeast India Festival in Singapore. Various items were confiscated, including a pendrive, a hard disk, and several documents.

Look-out notices issued for Shyamkanu and Siddharth

Recently, look-out notices were issued for Shyamkanu and Siddharth in relation to Zubeen’s death. They have been instructed to report to the CID office in Guwahati by October 6. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that if they do not comply, necessary measures will be undertaken to escort them back.

Zubeen tragically died on September 19 in Singapore at the age of 52, following an alleged drowning incident. His remains were first transported to Delhi before being taken to Guwahati, where his final rites took place in Kamarkuchi village on September 23.
