### Festival Details
Set to take place from August 7 to 24 across Melbourne, regional Victoria, and online, MIFF 2025 will showcase over 275 films. A key highlight will be the Music on Film section, which includes special live score events and acclaimed music documentaries.
### Premieres and Highlights
One of the major attractions this year is the world premiere of *Jimmy Barnes: Working Class Man*. Directed by Andrew Farrell, this film serves as a follow-up to the 2018 documentary *Working Class Boy*. It offers an intimate look at the Cold Chisel frontman, detailing his journey from Glasgow’s tenements to Australia’s stadiums.
Other notable films in the Music on Film category include Alex Ross Perry’s *Pavements*, featuring Joe Keery from *Stranger Things* as Stephen Malkmus. There’s also *Move Ya Body: The Birth of House*, which documents Chicago’s underground dance revolution, and *It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley*, a deep dive into the legacy of the iconic singer, directed by Amy Berg.
### Sound and Screen Events
This year’s Sound and Screen events are equally intriguing. Julia Holter will perform a live score for Dreyer’s 1928 classic *The Passion of Joan of Arc*. Additionally, *Parasite Live in Concert* will feature composer Jung Jae-il leading Orchestra Victoria as Bong Joon-ho’s Academy Award-winning film screens.
### Additional Film Showcase
MIFF 2025 will kick off with Mary Bronstein’s *If I Had Legs I’d Kick You*, featuring Rose Byrne. The extensive program also includes new films from renowned directors like Kristen Stewart, Kelly Reichardt, and Richard Linklater.
