Travis Applauds Neil Finn’s Exceptional Songwriting Talent

After expressing his admiration for INXS, describing the beloved Australian band as “huge for us,” Healy shared an amusing story about a gathering he attended featuring former cover stars, Crowded House.

Memorable Musical Encounters

“My claim to fame is that I was at a party in LA a couple of years back, hosted by Susanna Hoffs from the Bangles. She’s known for her vocals on Travis’ album, 10 Songs,” he recounted. “She invited me, and I thought, ‘Why not?’”

Healy usually isn’t one for these types of events, but he found it quite relaxed. Nonetheless, he was surprised to find several well-known figures present. “Neil Finn from Crowded House was there, and he got us up to perform backing vocals for ‘Weather with You’. It was surreal—I couldn’t believe it was happening,” Healy shared.

Healy was full of praise for Finn, noting, “His songwriting is fantastic. I thought I didn’t know the song, but once he started singing, I remembered all the backing vocals. It was brilliant.”

Connections with Oasis

Shifting the conversation beyond Australia, Healy spoke about his connection with Oasis, who are completing their Australian tour this week. “I met Noel Gallagher in New York and saw the rest of the band there too,” he explained, noting that they felt no pressure as they performed. “Imagine being in a band with 18 or 20 massive hits; they could do it effortlessly.”

“It’s like they’re on the best holiday ever, with their families joining them, just enjoying the ride,” Healy added.

Exciting Upcoming Tour

Travis is gearing up for their first Australian tour since 2001, scheduled for January. The BRIT Award-winning band will celebrate their classic album, The Man Who, which achieved platinum status and sold over 110,000 copies in Australia.

During their shows in Fremantle, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, and Brisbane, fans can expect to hear The Man Who performed in its entirety alongside beloved tracks from their extensive catalog.
