The Beths Unveil Exciting Australian Tour After New Album Launch

The Beths, the acclaimed indie-rock band from New Zealand, have unveiled plans for their largest headline tour of Australia to date.
Following the release of their latest album Straight Line Was A Lie, the quartet—comprising lead vocalist Liz Stokes, lead guitarist Jonathan Pearce, bassist Benjamin Sinclair, and drummer Tristan Deck—will be gracing stages in Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne in April 2026.
Straight Line Was A Lie introduces a more introspective vibe to the energetic indie rock that The Beths are known for. The album has received acclaim, including a solid 3.5/5 star review, highlighting its clever hooks and Stokes’ delightful melodies.
“In their fourth record, the Beths have truly refined their craft. Their strength shines through in catchy choruses, insightful lyrics, and Stokes’ enchanting vocals, all backed by harmonies and crisp guitar work. Straight Line Was A Lie illustrates the band’s heartfelt acceptance of growth, acknowledging that such cycles are part of life.”
Across ten tracks, Stokes delves into themes of progress, mental health, and intricate family dynamics with lyrics that resonate on both a personal and universal level.
Self-recorded in Auckland and written in Los Angeles, this album showcases The Beths’ most revealing artistry yet. Singles like “Metal,” “No Joy,” and “Mother Pray For Me” explore the complexities of growth, while the title track delivers raw honesty.
“The band surged forward, diving into exhilarating hooks and the vibrant energy of Future Me Hates Me. This album invigorates them, freeing up their sound entirely.”
“The album demonstrates The Beths at their finest. Power-pop was thriving in 2022, yet Expert in a Dying Field holds its ground alongside works from other notable bands in the genre such as Alvvays.”
Adding to their accolades, Jonathan Pearce also produced Hans Pucket’s album No Drama, which charted at No. 35.
In September, The Beths will embark on a grand world tour, spanning Europe, the UK, and North America, with a staggering 55 performances scheduled over four months.
Tickets for the tour will be available starting at 9 AM on Friday, September 5th, through Handsome Tours.
