Tame Impala Unveils New Single ‘Loser’ with Djo in Music Video

## Tame Impala’s New Release: “Loser”
Tame Impala has just dropped their second single of the year, titled “Loser.” This track has garnered attention, particularly for its striking music video, which was directed by Sam Kristofski. Featuring Joe Keery of *Stranger Things* fame, who also performs as Djo, the video tells a poignant story of heartache and reflection.
### The Emotional Journey in the Music Video
In the video, Keery portrays a character who appears downcast after a breakup. He spends time at Bob’s Market, a convenience store in Los Angeles, where he sits outside, sipping a drink, and contemplating what went wrong. A notable moment occurs when Keery’s character is briefly replaced by Kevin Parker, the band’s frontman, who dons the same attire and expression. You can check out the full video below.
### Following “End of Summer”
“Loser” follows the earlier single “End of Summer,” which was released at the end of July. This earlier track marked Tame Impala’s first new music since their acclaimed 2020 album, *The Slow Rush*. It also marked their debut with Columbia Records.
While “Loser” showcases a rich, funk-infused psych-pop sound, “End of Summer” ventured further into dance music territory, drawing inspiration from the acid house movement of the late ’80s and early ’90s.
### What’s Next for Tame Impala?
Currently, it remains uncertain whether these singles will pave the way for a new album from Tame Impala, but speculation is growing. An intriguing post on social media, captioned “been busy,” teased new recordings with images of Parker in various studio settings and DJ events. The final image raised eyebrows, revealing a recording progress chart that suggests exciting developments.
### Celebrating Past Achievements
It’s noteworthy that five years have passed since Tame Impala released their last album, *The Slow Rush*, which received five ARIA Awards and multiple Grammy nominations.
In other news, Tame Impala is set to join Justice for their Australian arena performances this December. Justice recently received the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Neverender,” a track featuring Parker, but their collaboration dates back even further.
