Shraddha Kapoor shares insights on Stree 3
Calling Chhoti Stree her favorite segment, Shraddha expressed her enthusiasm: “When Dinoo (Dinesh Vijan) informed me about it, I exclaimed, ‘Seriously, your name should truly be Dinesh Vision!’”. The film is intended as a theatrical animated feature, catering to kids, families, and franchise fans alike.
Producer Dinesh Vijan added that Chhoti Stree functions as more than a mere spinoff; it acts as a fascinating link to Stree 3. “Most excitingly, Chhoti Stree will conclude with a sequence leading into Stree 3. It will shift from animation to live-action, addressing the question: ‘What is Stree’s backstory?’” he shared.
Scheduled for release six months before Stree 3, Chhoti Stree promises a mix of humor and lore, marking a significant addition to Maddock Films’ ambitious horror-comedy narrative.
Exploring the Stree franchise
The Stree franchise has established itself as a major player in the horror-comedy genre for Maddock Films. The original film, Stree (2018), starred Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor. Made on a budget of approximately ₹20 crore, it ultimately grossed over ₹180 crore worldwide.
Following that success, Stree 2 exceeded expectations, bringing in over ₹801.15 crore globally in just 35 days, according to box office sources. With spinoffs like Roohi and Bhediya, the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe now boasts a cumulative gross of over ₹1,000 crore, solidifying its legacy as one of India’s premier genre franchises.
In the meantime, Thamma, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in significant roles, is set to debut on October 21.
