Salman Khan’s Balochistan Remarks: Pakistan's Official Response Explained

Recent Reports on Salman Khan’s Comment

Last week, stories surfaced claiming that Salman Khan had been placed on a terror watch list by Pakistan due to his comments about Balochistan. Following this, Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting took to social media to clarify the situation.

Claims about Salman Khan being put on a terror watch list circulated widely.

Clarification from the Pakistan Ministry

This Sunday, the ministry’s official fact-checking team addressed the allegations regarding Salman Khan via a post on X (formerly Twitter). They shared a screenshot that cited sensational headlines, labeling them as “Fake news / unverified.”

The highlighted claim suggested that Salman was allegedly added to Pakistan’s “Fourth Schedule” under its Anti-Terrorism Act for his remarks about Balochistan. The report was notably brought forward by various Indian media outlets.

Response to the Allegation

The ministry clarified, stating, “No official statement or notification from the Pakistani government confirming Salman Khan’s inclusion in the Fourth Schedule has been found.” They emphasized that all claims originated from Indian media and lacked any formal Pakistani publication or announcement.

In conclusion, they noted, “In absence of verifiable primary evidence, the claim remains unverified and false. This appears to be a sensational headline rather than a substantiated fact.”

Context Behind Salman Khan’s Remarks

Earlier this month, Salman Khan attended the Joy Forum 2025 in Riyadh alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. Addressing the audience, he noted the widespread appeal of Indian films in the Middle East, stating, “If you make a Hindi film and release it here, it will be a superhit. There are people from Balochistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan working here.”

Located in southwestern Pakistan, Balochistan has long sought greater autonomy and independence, a quest that has gained momentum since the formation of Bangladesh in 1971. Ongoing issues such as human rights abuses and resource exploitation have further complicated the situation, with numerous Baloch individuals reported missing, according to Amnesty International.
