Kajol emphasized that they never set out to create a legacy. “We just aimed to make a good film. It’s incredible how fans have made it part of their traditions,” she adds.
Many fans have shared how the film became a part of their love stories, passing it on to their children as a way of connecting generations. “That’s a beautiful part that I cannot take credit for,” Kajol remarked.
*DDLJ* maintains an impressive record, showing at Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir for thirty years. Kajol acknowledges this phenomenon, thanking fans for their continual support in making it a life staple. “It’s such a joy to know it’s part of your lives,” she affirms.
As she thinks about her role as Simran, Kajol is clear about her feelings: “I wouldn’t change anything about Simran. The film resonated with the sentiments of its time, and altering any aspect would shift its magic.”
Kajol expressed her respect for the context in which *DDLJ* was created, reflecting on how different the narrative would be in today’s world. However, she believes the film’s essence should remain untouched.
