She was celebrated for her remarkable dancing skills in Bollywood films during the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, often drawing comparisons with her contemporary Helen. In a nostalgic post, Akshay uploaded a photo of himself seated next to Madhumati alongside other young actors. He sported a mustache while Madhumati gently placed her hand on his shoulder.

Accompanying the picture, Akshay wrote, “My first and forever guru. Everything I know about dance, I learnt at your feet, Madhumati ji. Har ada, har expression mein aapki yaad hamesha saath rahegi (Every note, each expression will remind me of you). Om Shanti.”

Fellow actor Vindu Dara Singh also paid homage, stating, “Rest in peace our teacher and guide #Madhumati ji. A beautiful life led, filled with love and blessings from the many who learned from this legend.”

Remembering Madhumati’s Legacy

Madhumati is renowned for her roles in films such as *Ankhen*, *Tower House*, *Shikari*, and *Mujhe Jeene Do*. Beginning her career as a dancer in 1957 in an unreleased Marathi film, she was passionate about various dance forms, including Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Manipuri, and Kathakali. Madhumati married Deepak Manohar, a prominent dancer who was significantly older than her, and together they welcomed four children into the world.
