Raashii Khanna Discusses Telusu Kada
In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Raashii Khanna opened up about her upcoming film, *Telusu Kada*, her co-star Siddhu Jonnalagadda, and themes within the movie.
Understanding the Film’s Tone
Describing *Telusu Kada*, Raashii emphasizes its ‘emotionally violent’ nature. “This film will provoke strong feelings in you—perhaps even trigger some emotions. It’s an art piece that opens up discussions about relationships, boundaries, and love,” she said, comparing it to “a bleeding rose,” to convey the complexities of love.
Characters and Their Dynamics
Siddhu Jonnalagadda portrays Varun, a character with brutal honesty, while Raashii plays Anjali and Srinidhi Shetty portrays Raaga. Despite the trailer hinting at turmoil among these characters, Raashii insists Varun isn’t toxic but merely “blatantly honest.” She noted, “People often desire honesty in relationships until it’s difficult to handle. This role pushed me to grow both as an actor and person.”
The Serious Side of Siddhu
Raashii reveals that her co-star, despite his comedic off-screen persona, is deeply serious about his craft. “Siddhu’s focus on set shows his dedication. I learned so much from him,” she shares. “He has worked extremely hard to gain his position, living and breathing cinema in a way that’s truly commendable.”
The Emotional Toll of Anjali
Playing Anjali took an emotional toll on Raashii. During a key scene, she needed a break to realign her emotions. “While shooting the climax, I felt a deep connection to the motivations of my character,” she said, emphasizing her responsibility as an actor in portraying this complex role.
Women Writers in Cinema
Raashii credits debut director Neeraja Kona for her nuanced approach to female characters in *Telusu Kada*. “Gender shouldn’t define direction, but it does impact writing. We need more women’s perspectives in cinema,” she concluded, highlighting the unique insights women can bring to storytelling.
