Primark Enhances Kids’ Clothing for Inclusivity

Primark is taking significant steps to make kids’ clothing more inclusive by introducing design tweaks that cater to children facing sensory challenges. This aligns with their commitment made in 2024 to enhance accessibility and affordability in fashion for many.

Key Design Updates

As part of this initiative, Primark is eliminating neck labels in its kids’ clothing and nightwear. This change affects over 50% of their kids’ clothing line, including nearly 70% of their pyjamas. The goal is to enhance comfort and ensure more children can feel at ease in their attire.

New Seamless Sock Options

Additionally, Primark will introduce seamless socks after feedback from parents highlighted that traditional socks often cause discomfort for children with sensory issues. The new socks have been specifically designed for week-long comfort.

Feedback-Focused Approach

Ann Marie Cregan, the trading director at Primark, expressed the company’s dedication to making kids feel excellent in their attire. “We want all kids to feel great in what they wear,” she stated, emphasizing that these changes are not about creating a special line but rather improving existing products to cater to all children.

Sensory-Friendly Features and More

Primark is also enhancing in-store experiences with new signage indicating products with no neck labels. To simplify online shopping, they plan to introduce a filter for “sensory friendly” options on their website, making browsing easier.

In addition, the retailer is rolling out sensory-friendly shopping hours in select stores across Great Britain. This pilot program will reduce noise and limit store announcements, designed to create a more serene shopping experience on Saturdays for children who may need it.
