Meg Mac Captures the Emotion of Airport Farewells in New Single

## Meg Mac Unveils New Single

ARIA chart sensation Meg Mac has excited fans with her latest release, “He Said No,” which serves as the first preview of her anticipated fourth studio album, *It’s My Party*, set to launch later this year.

## The Creative Process Behind “He Said No”

This track is based on an unexpected vocal loop that Meg discovered during a session with producer Nathan Jenkins, also known as Bullion, who has collaborated with artists like Carly Rae Jepsen and Ben Howard. “We stumbled upon this ‘he said no’ vocal loop, and Nathan crafted an entire soundscape around it,” Meg recalls. This approach deviated from the usual songwriting process, prompting her to explore the meaning behind the phrase.

## Emotionally Resonant Themes

The song captures a poignant moment set at an airport departure gate, which Meg describes as “sadder than dropping someone to the airport and not knowing if you’ll ever see them again.” Drawing inspiration from John Denver’s classic “Leaving on a Jet Plane,” she provides a fresh perspective by voicing the emotions of the one left behind. “I’m captivated by that song and aimed to invoke that sentiment, but from the viewpoint of the person remaining at the airport,” she shares.

### Musical Contrast

Staying true to her artistic style, Meg juxtaposes the emotional weight of the lyrics with an upbeat melody. “It’s approachable and fun, yet the heartache at the core is unmistakable,” she notes.

## A Visual Journey

The release of “He Said No” is complemented by a visually engaging self-directed music video. Meg explores her growing interest in mixed media, incorporating time-lapse footage taken by her father, a former airline pilot. “The background visuals are a treasure from my Dad,” she explains. “He would set up his phone in the cockpit to capture these stunning time-lapse videos of landings in various Australian cities.”
