Matt Corby Unveils New Album, Infusing Motown Vibes and Enchantment

## Matt Corby’s Upcoming Album: “Tragic Magic”

Matt Corby has shared exciting news about his fourth studio album, *Tragic Magic*, which is scheduled for release on March 6th through Island Records/Universal Music. This new album consists of 13 tracks, co-produced alongside his long-time collaborator, Chris Collins. The debut single from the album, “Long and Short,” was released earlier, and today brings forth the new track “Burn It Down.”

## “Burn It Down”: A Soulful Addition

Among the highlights of *Tragic Magic*, “Burn It Down” showcases Corby’s passion for classic soul music. Co-written with Meg Mac and Chris Collins, this track boasts a playful, groove-centric vibe that echoes Motown’s spirit.

“I’m thrilled to finally reveal this album, *Tragic Magic*,” Corby says. “After 18 months of hard work, I’m genuinely proud of this piece. It reflects my current life — my family and kids mean the world to me, and witnessing their growth has reshaped my perspective on life.”

## The Essence of “Burn It Down”

Corby explains that “Burn It Down” is meant to evoke positive feelings. Despite addressing the complexities of sustaining positive aspects of life—whether it be relationships, health, or general well-being—the song resonates with a sense of fun. “Writing this track with Meg Mac and Chris Collins was a joyful experience. The beat gave me challenges, but it was about making it feel groovy. We tweaked it from a slower tempo to achieve what we envisioned,” he adds.

## Musical Complexity and Collaboration

On “Burn It Down,” Corby plays not only vocals but also drums, bass, piano, and other instruments, while Meg Mac and Nat Dunn contribute backing vocals. The lush string arrangements are a collaborative effort with Collins and Stephen Mowat. The outcome is a vintage, soul-infused sound, seen through a contemporary lens.
