Matt Corby Unveils Exciting New Single 'Long and Short'

## Matt Corby’s New Song: A Soulful Reflection

Matt Corby has just released a deeply soulful new track, premiering on triple j. This song marks an emotional return for the artist based in Northern Rivers, crafted during a time of acceptance following significant personal loss.

### Creative Collaboration and Background

The song is the first solo material from Corby in 2023, created in partnership with activist Shunguzo. This release comes on the heels of his ARIA-nominated third studio album, *Everything’s Fine*, and the subsequent single “Desert Land.”

Corby shared insights about the inspiration behind the song, revealing, “Recently someone very close to me passed away from pancreatic cancer, which was a tragic experience for those of us who loved them. The mourning process brought a flood of questions about our mortality and how we choose to embrace the moments of life.”

### Themes of the Song

“This song pays tribute to the journey one undertakes after they pass away, wishing those on that journey safe passage to their next adventure,” Corby expressed. He encouraged listeners to take time to connect with the song, saying, “I hope you can take the time to listen and enjoy or cry maybe… it’s up to you.”

The track serves as a beautiful reminder to value every moment with loved ones. As Corby poignantly puts it, “Can we count to three and let time show the proof, that we have so much to lose? So can we seize every minute, the long and short, this is life and we’re in it.” The accompanying music video was filmed on Corby’s Super 8 camera at his home in Northern NSW.
