Late Night Hosts Unite in Support of Stephen Colbert Following Show Disruption

Recently, Stephen Colbert received an outpouring of support from fellow late-night hosts upon the announcement of CBS cancelling *The Late Show With Stephen Colbert* next May.

Jimmy Fallon expressed his surprise, saying he was “just as shocked as everyone,” while Seth Meyers praised Colbert not just as a host and comedian but as a wonderful person.

John Oliver shared his excitement to see what Colbert and his team would produce in the remaining months of the show.

Jimmy Kimmel voiced his displeasure towards CBS, and Andy Cohen remarked that it was a somber day for the network. In contrast, President Donald Trump—often a target of Colbert’s humor—approved of the cancellation, stating he “absolutely loves” that Colbert got “fired.”

John Oliver’s Take

“I love Stephen, I love his staff, and I love that show. It’s incredibly sad. I’m somewhat excited to see what they’re going to do in the next ten months. It’s really disappointing news for the comedy world,” remarked Oliver during a recent event in Erie, Pennsylvania.

He reflected on how significant late-night shows have been in his life, remembering watching David Letterman’s show during his youth in England.

Oliver concluded, “It’s been a joy to be part of Letterman’s and Colbert’s shows, making this news all the more heartbreaking. I look forward to his next steps because that man will never stop.”

Jimmy Fallon Responds

“I’m just as shocked as everyone else. Stephen is one of the sharpest and funniest hosts ever. I really thought I would be riding this out with him for years,” Fallon lamented on Instagram.

“I’m sad that my family and friends will now need to find a new show to watch every night at 11:30.”

Seth Meyers Shares His Thoughts

“For as great of a comedian and host that he is, @stephenathome is an even better human being,” Meyers tweeted.

“I will miss seeing him on TV every evening, but I’m thrilled that he can no longer claim to be ‘too busy to hang out’ with me.”

Jimmy Kimmel’s Message

“Love you, Stephen,” posted Kimmel on Instagram.

Andy Cohen’s Reaction

“Today feels particularly sad for CBS as they exit the late-night scene. It’s like they’re dimming the lights after the news,” stated Cohen during an interview.
