## Reflecting on Family Legacy
In their latest release, *The Album*, the Jonas Brothers reminisce about their childhood. Their single, “Waffle House,” captures the essence of family bonds, singing, “Headstrong father and a determined mother/Oh, that’s why some nights we tried to kill each other/But you know it’s always love.” This heartfelt sentiment not only reflects their upbringing but also highlights the family’s closeness.
## A Historic Acquisition
Recently, their father, Kevin Jonas Sr., made headlines by acquiring a significant part of the Jonas Brothers’ music catalog. After navigating a competitive bidding process, he secured *The Album*, along with notable titles like *Happiness Begins* and their upcoming release, *Greetings From Your Hometown*. The sale also encompassed popular singles, including “Like It’s Christmas” and “Remember This.”
### Passion Behind the Purchase
While the financial details of the deal remain under wraps, Kevin expressed the emotional motivation behind it. He shared, “I don’t know that anybody can love your music any more than I do or be any more proud of you.” His focus was on the passion he would bring to preserving and promoting their legacy. The brothers described this moment as a “full circle” experience.
## Collaborative Spirit
The Jonas Brothers acknowledged their excitement about collaborating with Jonas Group Publishing, led by Leslie DiPiero. They expressed optimism about the partnership, emphasizing their shared history. Given that Kevin previously managed the group, they believe teamwork will be seamless.
### Holding onto the Past
The band still retains the rights to their first four albums. Their debut, *It’s About Time*, was first released through Columbia Records, which later let go of the master recordings. Their subsequent albums, including *A Little Bit Longer* and *Lines, Vines and Trying Times*, were distributed by Disney’s Hollywood Records, allowing them to take their master recordings when they parted ways in 2012.
## Embracing New Directions
Nick Jonas shared, “This was a decision that we made as a group.” He added that parting ways with Hollywood and Disney was emotional but necessary for their growth. The brothers conveyed eagerness for this new chapter in their careers, emphasizing the importance of maintaining ownership of their work.
