3% Celebrates First Nations Legends with New Release
First Nations collective 3% has shared an inspiring single titled "Our Greats," coinciding with NAIDOC Week. The trio, consisting of Nooky, Dallas Woods, and Angus Field, pays homage to both past and present generations with this heartfelt track.
A Tribute to Legacy
The song features a special collaboration with a chorus of children, including young voices from the Indigenous youth organization, We Are Warriors, as well as Nooky’s own children. Woods expressed that, "’Our Greats’ is a tribute to the giants who walked before us – the ones who dared to believe, who fought through adversity, and who laid the foundation so we could stand tall today."
Field emphasized the song’s purpose, stating, "’Our Greats’ is a song for those who paved the way before us so that we could dare to achieve for the future."
Nooky’s Personal Connection
For Nooky, the track holds significant emotional weight. "Through the work we do with We Are Warriors, we have young mob in the programs who can rap and sing," he shared. He feels immense pride hearing these children name significant figures like Cathy Freeman and Ash Barty. "I could see the greatness reflected in them, and to hear them stand up and sing with such strength and hope blows me away."
