Hayley Williams and David Byrne are teaming up for an exciting new song titled “Open the Door.” This track will be part of the official soundtrack for *The Twits*, an upcoming animated film based on Roald Dahl’s beloved book, set to release on Netflix on October 17.

In the opening verse, Williams sings, “Tears are like magic and laughing is fun/If you can have both of them, why just have one?” This poignant lyric touches on the importance of embracing a range of emotions. Phil Johnston, the director, writer, and producer of *The Twits*, expressed his amazement at collaborating with Byrne, whom he has admired since he was a teenager. He noted, “From the first demo he sent me, which featured a 100-year-old banjolele, I knew I was going to love the songs he wrote.”

He added, “My collaboration with David has been incredibly fun and surprisingly easy, probably because I’ve been stealing from him for so long.”

## The End-Credit Song

“Open the Door” is set to play at the end of the film. Johnston reminisced about the initial discussions, stating that the moment Byrne suggested Williams as a collaborator, he eagerly said, “yes…please.” He remarked on the thrill of having two of his favorite songwriters create a piece together for *The Twits*, noting that the phrase “never meet your heroes” didn’t apply in this case.

## Musical Connections

Both artists share a musical bond, frequently influencing each other’s work. While on tour, Paramore has included Byrne’s classic “Burning Down the House” in their setlist, and Byrne has performed Williams’s “Hard Times” during his *Who Is the Sky?* tour.

Williams shared her gratitude, saying, “I owe David Byrne for pulling me into the music for this. It was so fun and so surreal starting a song from scratch with him.”
