Hatchie Reveals Upcoming Album and Debuts Lead Single ‘Lose It Again’

Hatchie has revealed details about her upcoming album, Liquorice, set to release on November 7th, with the lead single “Lose It Again” serving as a dreamy introduction.
Teaming up with producer Melina Duterte (known as Jay Som), Hatchie captures an authentic, unfiltered essence in Liquorice. The album reflects the intricate relationship between longing and obsession, beautifully portraying the journey of self-discovery in young womanhood.
First Single Release
The first glimpse of Liquorice comes from the single “Lose It Again,” which marks a bold new chapter for Hatchie. Co-written with Jeremy McLennan, the track also features a nostalgic, lo-fi ’90s-inspired music video crafted by her long-time collaborator and partner, Joe Agius.
Hatchie’s Reflections
“This album feels like the culmination of everything I’ve wanted to do with this project since I first started it,” says Hatchie. She elaborates, “I focused on the finer details of the trajectory of love found and lost, inspired by my favorite tragic romance films. I’ve never felt more aligned with an album and can’t wait to share the experience with everyone.”
Taking a break from touring to return to Australia, Hatchie re-evaluated her priorities, spending quality time with friends and family. This period of reflection profoundly influenced the album, showcasing a woman who is increasingly at ease in her own skin.
Embracing Her Sound
As an artist who has always expressed her influences openly, Hatchie aimed to create without any specific inspiration, allowing her songs to evolve over weeks rather than hurrying the process. She rediscovered the melodic simplicity of her earlier work and embraced her musical vulnerabilities, stating, “I wanted to see my limitations as strengths that inform my style.”
“Lose It Again” is out now, and Liquorice will be available on November 7th.
