## New Designers Join The Fashion Residency

Six talented designers are set to embark on their journey as the second cohort of The Fashion Residency at Studio Smithfield, commencing in January 2026. This initiative, which spans 18 months, is supported by the Mayor of London, Projekt, and the Paul Smith Foundation. Selected participants will receive complimentary studio space, mentorship from industry veterans, and business planning training.

### Selected Designers

The latest cohort features six innovative designers: Harri, Joyce Bao, Renata Brenha, Petra Fagerstrom, Masha Popova, and Eden Tan. They stood out among over 100 applicants, having passed through four rounds of shortlisting. According to a press release, the designers were picked for their unique perspectives, design aesthetics, and their vision for the program.

### Impact of the Program

Justine Simons, deputy mayor for culture and the creative industries, and a juror for the residency, noted that the program has been a “game changer” for the initial group of designers. She expressed enthusiasm about the potential growth of the second cohort.

Simons added, “Fashion is crucial for London, enhancing our reputation as a creative hub and serving as a significant economic driver. Nurturing the talent of tomorrow is essential for our ongoing success, making this partnership key as we work towards a better London for all.”

### Previous Success

The Fashion Residency was launched in 2024, with Yaku, Paoline Russo, and Laura Pitharas as the first participants. Reports suggest that this inaugural group successfully established their own e-commerce platforms, secured retail partnerships, hired staff, and even trademarked their brands, indicating the program’s effectiveness.
