Green Day Unveils Teaser for Upcoming Coming-of-Age Film ‘New Years Rev’
A Road Trip with a Twist
Three friends set off on an exhilarating road trip, believing they’ve snagged a unique opportunity to open for Green Day. This is the premise of the upcoming film New Years Rev.
A Thrilling Plot
Directed by Lee Kirk, this comedy features a band called the Analog Dogs, played by Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, and Ryan Foust. The story kicks off as the trio is misled into thinking they have secured an opening spot for Green Day at a New Year’s Eve concert. Excited, they hit the road from Kansas to California to meet their idols.
Classic Green Day Style
The teaser bursts with classic Green Day vibes, showcasing the Analog Dogs lounging on a couch, facing their initial challenge: how to get to the concert. One character expresses, “We’re never gonna forget the day we almost opened up for Green Day,” to which another responds through a puff of smoke, “Man, we’re not almost opening… We’re taking Wayne’s car.”
A Montage of Adventures
The clip unfolds with a series of hilarious road trip moments and coming-of-age adventures, building up to their much-anticipated arrival at a Green Day show. However, it remains uncertain whether the Analog Dogs will actually get a chance to perform.
Inspired by the Band’s Journey
New Years Rev draws inspiration from Green Day’s early years, when the band lived out of a tour van. Naturally, their iconic music plays a significant role in the film, including songs from their album American Idiot, such as “Holiday.”
A Stellar Supporting Cast
The film features a robust supporting lineup, including Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee, McKenna Grace, Keen Ruffalo, Ignacio Diaz-Silverio, and Sean Gunn. Mark your calendars—the world premiere of New Years Rev is set for Sept. 12 at the Toronto International Film Festival.
