Georgia Maq Unveils Heartfelt EP Titled ‘God’s Favourite’

## Georgia Maq’s Musical Evolution
In her debut solo EP, former Camp Cope frontwoman Georgia Maq shifts away from vibrant electronics, embracing guitars and a rich blend of Americana-inspired ballads that reflect her experiences in Los Angeles. This collection captures a sense of transformation and recounts a bold leap into a new chapter, providing an enjoyable listening experience reminiscent of a beautiful sunset.
### A Collaborative Vision
The EP is a product of Maq’s collaboration with co-producer Daniel Fox, who has worked with artists like Ryan Beatty and Ian Sweet. Their creative journey began soon after Camp Cope disbanded, allowing Maq to ponder her past while embracing the future that lay ahead.
### Reflections on Music and Meaning
In discussing her music, Maq shared, “I think being a musician right now feels like we’re in the string quartet as the Titanic goes down. I feel like none of this matters or has any point to it, but I hope that the songs find their way into someone’s ears when they need them; I think I make music for people who cry listening to ‘Defying Gravity’ from the *Wicked* soundtrack.”
Her move to Los Angeles has notably influenced her music. Maq admits, “I want to acknowledge that I stopped singing in an Australian accent — honestly, it was never really natural for me in the first place. I started singing when I was a kid in an American accent because I was brought up on country and bluegrass music (thanks to my dad) and Cold Chisel (thanks to my mum). I feel like I’ve come back to that.”
### A Step Towards Self-Discovery
Maq expresses that each release brings her closer to self-actualization, stating, “*God’s Favourite* is the next big step for me. Every time I release music, I look back at my catalogue and feel an urgent sense of shame and embarrassment – but I feel different about this one, though.” She credits Daniel Fox for his invaluable role: “He’s my collaborator and one of my best friends. We bring such different things into the songs, and he’s really helped me find myself through the music.”
