## Annual MFA Runway Show at FIT
The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) is set to host its annual MFA Runway Show, titled Act 5, on Tuesday, September 9, at 4:00 PM during New York Fashion Week. This exciting event will showcase the distinctive collections from 18 talented graduates of the Fashion Design MFA program.
## Symbolism of Act 5
The theme Act 5 represents the culmination of the students’ two-year journey, signifying a time of resolution, introspection, transformation, and enlightenment. These designers use fashion as a means of communication, delving into a variety of themes that include culture, identity, technology, and sustainability.
### A Global Perspective
This year’s graduating class brings a diverse array of backgrounds, ranging from computational design and engineering to traditional craftsmanship and innovations in textiles. Noteworthy highlights include explorations of cultural heritage by designers like Mai Nou Her and Amrutha Ramkumar, technology-infused designs from Mina Khademi and Kiki Wanjing Zuo, and sustainable practices showcased by Jackie Schmidt. Additionally, Genevieve Zhuoran Li and Ethan Horing introduce fresh approaches to tailoring and silhouette.
## Educational Insights from Act 5
For educators, Act 5 illustrates how new designers are merging academic research with industry standards. The runway show serves as a glimpse into how FIT’s graduate program equips students to harmonize craftsmanship, innovative design, and conceptual thought while engaging in significant cultural discourses.
