DZ Deathrays Unveil Fresh Track ‘Skyline’

DZ Deathrays Unveil Fresh Track 'Skyline'

Exploring the New Sound of “Skyline”

“Skyline” marks a shift into shimmering indie-rock territory, introducing a more introspective layer to the band’s sound. It’s less sharp and more expansive, yet retains the underlying tension evident in all their music.

Inspiration Behind the Track

Written on the road to Sydney, “Skyline” encapsulates that unique clarity that arrives when you stop searching for it. Musically, it draws from the melodic roots of early 2000s indie, notably echoing The Strokes, yet infuses it with DZ’s heavier, more unpredictable style.

As Shane Parsons, the frontman, noted, “It’s a note to my future self – that moment where you zone out and everything makes a bit more sense.”

Indie Rock and Melodic Exploration

“Skyline” leans deeper into the realm of indie rock, a genre Parsons personally cherishes. “A place I love – anything 2000s – where melody and interesting tones can shine,” he mentioned.

This interplay of grit and clarity is vividly captured in Lachlan Ewbank’s glitchy solo, transforming a moment of catharsis into something surreal.

Following Up “Real Love”

“Skyline” follows “Real Love,” the first single from their upcoming album. This piece delves into the emotional challenges of new parenthood, the essence of unconditional love, and the unpredictability of modern life, predominantly crafted on piano.

From EPs to Album

Initially planned as two distinct EPs, Easing Out of Control evolved into a cohesive, vibrant album. It oscillates between romanticizing the past, confronting the present, and aspiring to leave a lasting legacy. Fans can look forward to its release on January 16th, 2026.

Upcoming Tour Announcements

To commemorate the album’s launch, DZ Deathrays will hit the road for a series of headline shows across Australia in January and early February, bringing their electrifying live performance and fresh material to fans.
