Diljit Dosanjh Nominated for Best Actor at 2025 International Emmy Awards

Diljit earns International Emmy nomination

The nominations were announced on September 25 via the official International Emmys website.

*Amar Singh Chamkila* narrates the tragic real-life tale of the Punjabi singer and his wife, who were both murdered at a young age. Diljit plays the titular role while Parineeti Chopra stars as his wife, Amarjot. The film debuted on Netflix on April 12 last year.

Other nominees in the category included David Mitchell, Oriol Pla, and Diego Vasquez. Diljit expressed his gratitude on Instagram, crediting director Imtiaz Ali and Netflix India for the recognition.

Diljit had shared his initial hesitations about taking on this role. At a Netflix event, he remarked, “When I learned Bollywood was making a film on Chamkila, I wondered how they would portray it. I created a fictional version because I wasn’t granted the rights. When the pandemic delayed my film, I received a call from Imtiaz, and I thought I was in trouble, but he wanted me for this role instead.”

The 2025 International Emmy Awards are set to take place on November 24 in New York City.
