About Amar Singh Chamkila

“Amar Singh Chamkila” is directed by Imtiaz Ali and narrates the life of Punjab’s legendary folk singer, often referred to as the Elvis of Punjab. Achieving fame in the 1980s for his bold lyrics and dynamic performances, Chamkila’s life was tragically cut short in 1988 at the age of 27, when he and his wife, Amarjot Kaur, were killed. The film was released on Netflix in April 2024 and was co-written by Imtiaz and Sajid Ali.
