Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has made headlines following his nomination for the prestigious International Emmy Awards 2025. This marks his first-ever recognition on a global stage, with the nominations revealed by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Diljit’s Response to the Nomination

Diljit has been nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor category for his role in the Netflix biographical drama “Amar Singh Chamkila,” directed by Imtiaz Ali. He took to his Instagram Stories to express gratitude, sharing a post about the nomination and stating, “It’s all because of @imtiazaliofficial sir (heart hand emoji).” He also tagged Netflix India in the post.

The competition is fierce, as Diljit will go up against prominent actors such as David Mitchell, Oriol Pla, and Diego Vasquez. Additionally, “Amar Singh Chamkila” has also secured a spot in the Best TV Movie/Mini-Series category, doubling the celebration for the team involved.

Parineeti Chopra, Diljit’s co-star in “Amar Singh Chamkila,” also shared her excitement over the nomination. She posted on Instagram saying, “Proud of my team Chamkila,” tagging both Diljit and Imtiaz in her message.

About Amar Singh Chamkila

“Amar Singh Chamkila” is directed by Imtiaz Ali and narrates the life of Punjab’s legendary folk singer, often referred to as the Elvis of Punjab. Achieving fame in the 1980s for his bold lyrics and dynamic performances, Chamkila’s life was tragically cut short in 1988 at the age of 27, when he and his wife, Amarjot Kaur, were killed. The film was released on Netflix in April 2024 and was co-written by Imtiaz and Sajid Ali.

In recent years, Indian content has made a significant impact at the Emmys. Notably, the Netflix series “Delhi Crime” won the Best Drama Series award in 2020, and comedian Vir Das received an Emmy in 2021 for his special “Vir Das: For India.”
