Deepika Padukone Makes History as First Indian Actress on Walk of Fame

Bollywood icon Deepika Padukone has etched her name in history by becoming the first Indian actress to receive a star on the esteemed Hollywood Walk of Fame. This remarkable announcement for the Class of 2026 honorees was shared by The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce during a global live stream on Wednesday, July 2.

In celebration of her achievement, Padukone’s husband, the celebrated Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, took to his Instagram story to express his congratulations. The couple, who wed in November 2018, welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in September 2024.

The announcement also unveiled a roster of 35 honorees selected from five categories: Motion Pictures, Television, Live Theatre/Performance, Recording, and Sports Entertainment. Among the other distinguished honorees are Emily Blunt, Rachel McAdams, Demi Moore, and Gordon Ramsay.

Joining Padukone from the Asian region is the celebrated Filipino singer and actress Lea Salonga, the iconic voice behind Mulan and Princess Jasmine in Aladdin, who received her star in the Live Theatre/Performance category.

At 39, Padukone has forged a remarkable path in both Bollywood and Hollywood. She gained fame with her debut film, Om Shanti Om, alongside Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in 2007. In 2017, she made her Hollywood debut in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, where she starred opposite Vin Diesel.
