The legendary Daniel Johns, renowned as the most-awarded artist in ARIA history, has achieved a significant milestone with the inaugural ARIA silver accreditation.
### Recognition for “FutureNever”
This accolade was awarded to Johns for his album *FutureNever*, showcased during a groundbreaking screening of the short film *Daniel Johns: What If The Future Never Happened?* as part of the 2025 ARIA Awards Presents program. The silver accreditation is specifically designed for Australian artists who reach 20,000 units sold within three years of the album’s release, applicable only to titles launched from January 1, 2021.
“I’ve always found inspiration in crafting a remarkable album,” Johns remarked. “For my second solo album, *FutureNever*, to become the first ARIA-accredited silver album is both a privilege and an encouragement for Australian artists across genres to remain dedicated to their works.”

With a legacy stretching over decades, the Silverchair icon has captured 21 ARIA Awards and continues to explore artistic avenues through solo ventures, collaborations, and storytelling in both film and music.
### Exploring the Film
Directed by James Medlam, the sci-fi short film *Daniel Johns: What If The Future Never Happened?* transports viewers to the ’90s. It chronicles a day in the life of a teenage rockstar named Daniel in regional Australia, including a fortuitous encounter with a mysterious figure from the future. Young Johns is portrayed by actor Rasmus King.
The film was filmed in Newcastle on Awabakal land in 2022, aligned with the 30th anniversary of Silverchair’s debut album, *frogstomp*. To celebrate, Johns has planned intimate conversation events in Newcastle, Brisbane, and Melbourne.
