Clairo Joins Atlantic Records with Exciting New Contract

## A New Chapter for Clairo

Clairo, known offstage as Claire Cottrill, has entered an exciting phase in her career by signing with Atlantic Records. This partnership promises to enhance her artistic journey and creative expression.

“I’m so thrilled to begin this next chapter of my musical journey with Atlantic,” Cottrill expressed. She highlighted that from the outset, the label understood her artistic vision, allowing her to remain both expressive and true to herself.

## Recent Success and Recognition

This development follows the successful release of her album *Charm* over a year ago. The record not only earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album but also generated hundreds of millions of streams for hits like “Juna” and “Sexy to Someone.” *Charm*, which was self-released, marked a significant milestone in her evolution as an artist.

Before *Charm*, Clairo released her debut album *Immunity* in 2017 through the Fader label, followed by *Sling* in 2021, also via Fader and Republic Records. “This is my third album, and people know me a little bit better, but they still don’t know,” she mentioned in a previous interview. “It takes so many records to really understand someone’s choices.”

## Navigating Early Challenges

Clairo first captured attention in 2017 with her breakout hit “Pretty Girl,” a catchy bedroom-pop track that went viral while she was still attending Syracuse University. Despite attracting the interest of major labels, she chose to sign with the independent Fader. This decision led to mixed reactions online, with some accusing her of being an “industry plant” due to her father’s connections.

“I fully recognize that, but I would be stupid to not use that relationship in a moment where I was really scared and really confused,” Cottrill candidly reflected. She acknowledged the complexity of her situation and expressed her desire to explain her choices to her audience.

## Looking Ahead

As Clairo enters this new phase with Atlantic Records, fans are eager for forthcoming music and developments. In the interim, she is set to perform at the All Things Go festival, with stops scheduled for Washington D.C. on September 27 and Queens, New York on September 28.
