Chase Contestants Advised Against Sharing Winnings with Underperforming Teammates

The Chase Contestants and Prize Money Rules
Contestants on The Chase are under strict guidelines regarding their winnings, as revealed by a former winner. Steven Sneade, who secured $17,000 after defeating Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha, shared insights about the contract that victorious contestants must sign.
Winnings and Contestant Policies
According to Sneade, who is 69 years old, one of his teammates left the game empty-handed. He reiterated that once players win, they must set aside any feelings of sympathy for those who did not. “If you win, you have to sign another contract accepting money from them,” he mentioned.
They were explicitly instructed not to share their winnings with teammates who did not fare well. Although he acknowledged that there was no way to compel compliance, the producers discouraged the idea of sharing.
Payment Timeline and Secrecy
Sneade also disclosed that contestants are told that it may take up to three months to receive their earnings, but he was fortunately paid within a week. In addition, he had to keep his victory a secret for nine months before it aired on television. He stated, “You have to promise you won’t tell anyone apart from your close family.”
His winning episode was broadcast in the UK back in 2017.
