Celebrate Diwali: Nakuul Mehta Shares Special Lakshmi Puja Moments
This Diwali is special for actor Nakuul Mehta as he celebrates with his newborn daughter Rumi and four-year-old son Sufi
Actor Nakuul Mehta is preparing for a very unique Diwali this year, celebrating his first festival as a father of two. Recently welcoming his daughter Rumi with his wife Jankee, he shares that the festive atmosphere feels “more wholesome than ever” with the joy of having two little ones at home.
“Diwali feels very wholesome this year. It’s a full house,” says Nakuul. He expresses the joy of parenting, sharing that having a son and a daughter completes his family. “Cleaning and decorating the house has been a joy, especially as we look forward to Lakshmi Puja with our little Rumi.”
Festive Traditions and Family Celebrations
Nakuul shares that Dhanteras and Diwali involve a mix of family rituals and personal traditions. “As a stock market enthusiast, I plan to invest in blue-chip companies along with buying some silver and gold,” he mentions. He also looks forward to preparing a special family lunch on Diwali.
Being a father has enhanced his festive experiences. “Fatherhood definitely doubles the joy of celebrating any festival, especially Diwali,” he reflects. It’s a time for reliving cherished traditions through the eyes of his children, creating new memories together.
Evolving Traditions in the Mehta Household
Nakuul shares how traditions have taken a new form in his home. He fondly remembers his father leading every Diwali Puja and how rewarding it is now to watch Sufi follow in his footsteps, despite Rumi being too young to participate just yet.
Grocery shopping for festive decorations is now a fun ritual with Sufi. “Visiting Dadar Market is a must for lanterns and festive supplies. It’s more engaging than shopping online,” he adds, reminiscing about simpler times.
Childhood Memories of Diwali
Reflecting on his childhood, Nakuul recalls celebrating Diwali in various cities throughout India due to his father’s Navy career. “Each location brought unique customs, enhancing our experiences. I have fond memories of celebrating in Delhi, Goa, and many other places,” he shares.
He fondly recounts how each neighborhood brought its own traditions, resulting in a rich tapestry of experiences shaped by new customs, communal festivities, and local sweets. “My favorite mithai has always been pista roll or pista barfi,” he smiles.
The Deeper Meaning of Diwali
For Nakuul, Diwali means family. He emphasizes the importance of outreach, visiting friends who are away from home to ensure everyone feels included in the festivities. “Celebrating with Sufi and for the first time with Rumi brings joys that mean so much. Doing the Lakshmi Puja surrounded by family is priceless,” he reflects.
Even with work commitments, Nakuul prioritizes family during this time. “Diwali is mostly a working occasion for me, but I will get a break on the festival day,” he explains. Setting up the house, decorating, and ensuring everything is prepared for the occasion is part of the joy of being a family of four.
