Bobby Deol Reflects on Bollywood’s Snubs and New Opportunities
Bobby Deol shares insights on changing relationships in the industry
Actor Bobby Deol has experienced the ups and downs of Bollywood firsthand. After his impactful debut in 1995 with *Barsaat*, he enjoyed a string of successes with films like *Soldier* and *Badal*. Yet, his journey took a downturn as his later movies struggled at the box office. In a recent interview, Bobby discussed how this difficult phase led to a noticeable shift in how people treated him in the industry.
Bobby Deol on feeling sidelined in Bollywood
During an appearance on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Bobby shared his thoughts on how people’s behaviors changed towards him over time. He remarked, “This was a slow process. For instance, at first people met me warmly, but soon they would drift away, and I found myself alone. Invitations to parties dwindled. This isn’t surprising as the industry tends to be fickle; people often stick around as long as you have something to give.”
Despite this, Bobby maintains a positive outlook and doesn’t harbor resentment. He noted that he has witnessed a resurgence in interest, with those same individuals returning with offers since his recent successes in projects like *Animal* and the series *Aashram*. “This happens in every industry,” he explained. “But I hold no grudges against them.”
Bobby Deol’s career resurgence
After dealing with a series of flops in the 2000s and 2010s, Bobby’s comeback began with Prakash Jha’s web series *Aashram*, which brought him back to the limelight. This was solidified by his role as the antagonist in the 2023 blockbuster *Animal*. Recently, he also featured in Aryan Khan’s *The Ba***ds of Bollywood*.
