## Blusher Takes on Kesha’s Classic

Emerging alt-pop trio Blusher has put their unique spin on Kesha’s iconic track, “Your Love is my Drug,” marking their debut in the Like a Version studio.

The group, comprising Lauren Coutts, Jade Ingvarson-Favretto, and Miranda Ward, infused the beloved 2010 hit with their own shiny flair while maintaining its lively spirit.

### A Tribute to Kesha

In a conversation with *triple J* after their studio session, the trio revealed their choice to cover Kesha felt natural. As Coutts explained, the pop star played a significant role in their band’s creation.

“We bonded over our shared passion for Kesha’s lesser-known tracks, so it felt serendipitous,” she stated.

They released the cover shortly after Kesha announced she would be bringing her The Tits Out Tour to Australia next year.

### The Magic of Pop Music

Ingvarson-Favretto shared her admiration for Kesha’s unabashed love for pop music, emphasizing its impact on their music. “Kesha’s bold style has always inspired us; it’s like our guiding star.”

Despite gaining attention from their recent performances, Ward confessed the studio environment made the band feel a bit anxious.

“It’s quite a contrast to our live shows,” she mentioned. “In a packed bar or festival, the energy is electrifying, and mistakes only add to the fun.”

### A Nod to ABBA

Interestingly, Kesha’s influence wasn’t the only one shining through. Ingvarson-Favretto wrapped up the cover with a twist, incorporating the chorus from ABBA’s classic, “SOS.”

The Swedish icons have also influenced Blusher’s original tune, “LAST MAN STANDING,” from their recently released EP, *RACER*.

“Jade grew up performing in an ABBA tribute band with her family, and you can feel that nostalgia woven into the song,” the band remarked after its debut.

They performed this track as the heart of their latest creative venture, emphasizing its powerful message.

“It’s all about passionately pursuing what you love and choosing joy boldly,” shared Ingvarson-Favretto.

### Upcoming Tour Plans

Blusher is gearing up for a North American and European tour in September and October, followed by a series of five shows along Australia’s East Coast in November.
