Billie Joe Armstrong Leads Fans in a ‘Fuck Donald Trump’ Chant at Green Day Show

Billie Joe Armstrong’s Fourth of July Outburst
Billie Joe Armstrong, the lead singer of Green Day, voiced his discontent with the current U.S. president during a recent performance at Rock Werchter in Belgium. The punk icon led concertgoers in a chant of “Forget Donald Trump,” marking another instance of his outspoken criticism.
A Defiant Performance
Green Day kicked off their set with the song “American Idiot,” where Armstrong modified the lyrics to express his rejection of the MAGA agenda, a theme he has adopted in recent shows. The band smoothly transitioned into “Holiday,” encouraging the audience to join them in another chant against Trump during a lengthy instrumental segment.
In addition to their original songs, the band performed a snippet of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the national anthem, before segueing into “Wake Me Up When September Ends.”

A History of Criticism
Armstrong’s disdain for Trump and his administration has been well-documented. He often uses Green Day’s concerts as an avenue to voice his opinions. In June, he addressed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Trump government directly, urging them to “get lost” in support of local protests against immigration raids.
Originally, “American Idiot” was crafted during George W. Bush’s presidency. During a New Year’s Eve performance, Armstrong reiterated his stance by proclaiming he’s “not part of the MAGA agenda.” Following the recent election, he targeted Elon Musk as well. While playing “American Idiot” in Johannesburg, South Africa, he adapted the lyrics to criticize the Tesla and X CEO, stating, “I’m not part of the Elon agenda.”
