Ayushmann Khurrana Considers Thamma More ‘Massy’

When discussing the parallels he sees between *Lokah* and *Thamma*, Ayushmann remarked, “We center around humor. While I appreciated *Lokah*, I feel like our film appeals to a wider audience, especially in Hindi-speaking areas. Though *Lokah* might serve as a great entry point for multiplex viewers, our narrative, circumstances, and essence greatly vary.”

Rashmika also joined the conversation, revealing her admiration for *Lokah* and her friendship with Kalyani. She asserted, “*Lokah* is its own world. What we’re bringing to *Thamma* will provide viewers with a new experience. These films can’t be compared directly.”

Overview of Thamma

*Thamma*, set to release on October 21 for Diwali, is the fifth installment of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, which includes films like *Stree* and *Bhediya*. Producer Dinesh Vijan noted that although he hasn’t viewed *Lokah*, he has heard wonderful things about it. He emphasized that *Thamma* is rooted in “mythos,” highlighting a crucial distinction between the two films.

For context, *Lokah* draws upon the tale of Kalliyankattu Neeli, considered a vampire in Kerala’s folklore, while also presenting other mythical creatures. It made history as the first Malayalam film to surpass the ₹300 crore milestone globally, featuring notable performances from actors like Dulquer and Tovino.
