Asket Set to Unveil Its Final Product Launch

Asket Set to Unveil Its Final Product Launch

What constitutes an essential wardrobe? There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some individuals might thrive with just a few basic items, such as three t-shirts and a couple of trousers, while others may feel limited after just a few days with the same selection.

Asket, a Swedish slow-fashion brand, has been pondering this question since its inception a decade ago. The aim was to create a clothing line focused on a permanent wardrobe consisting of 50 thoughtfully chosen pieces.

The brand states, “From the outset, we’ve believed there’s a natural limit to what should be included in a permanent wardrobe. Each item must justify its place through timeless appeal and everyday utility.”

Is Asket Closing Down?

The collection of 50 pieces is nearing completion. The final item, a pair of wool trousers, is set to launch in September, after which no new products will be introduced. Does this signify the end of Asket? Not at all. The brand remains dedicated to sustainability and will continuously enhance its collection of timeless essentials. “The process of refinement will be an ongoing commitment,” assures Asket.

“In the future, you can expect thoughtful updates, subtle developments, and considered enhancements across our intentionally limited range of 49—soon to be 50—menswear essentials,” they add.

The Evolution of “Timeless Essentials”

What exactly qualifies as essential according to Asket? Which 50 garments have made the cut? It all began in 2015 with a white t-shirt, now available in a variety of weights and lengths. Shirts followed, starting with an organic cotton Oxford shirt, which also now comes in linen, poplin, flannel, and denim. For chilly days, there’s an overshirt made from organic cotton or wool. A polo shirt is also fundamental, available in long or short sleeves. For leisure, there’s a loopback sweatshirt and matching pants in various lengths, as well as a hoodie, both zipped and non-zipped.

This gives us 18 products so far, while knitwear, trousers, jackets, underwear, and accessories are still to be accounted for. There are offerings like a merino wool sweatshirt in quarter-zip, turtleneck, or polo formats. Additionally, there’s a merino wool cardigan, a cashmere sweater, and a heavy wool sweater to keep you warm.

As for outerwear, Asket provides a short wool coat, a car coat, a field jacket, a zip-up jacket, and, of course, a denim jacket, raising the total to 30 different pieces.

The remaining items? Two styles of underwear, organic cotton or merino wool socks, swim shorts, a belt available in three colors, an oversized cashmere scarf, and a beanie made from wool or cashmere bring us to 40 items.

The wool trouser, crafted from 100% merino wool and woven in Italy, is expected to debut in September and is currently available for pre-order.

If we also consider the womenswear line introduced in 2021, a few more items come into play: a tank top, which has also gained popularity among men, along with a slip dress and a slip skirt.
