In the sequel trilogy, Ben Solo is depicted as the son of iconic characters Han Solo and Leia Organa, making him the grandson of Anakin Skywalker, also known as Darth Vader.

Throughout the storyline, he transitions into the antagonist Kylo Ren, experiencing a redemptive arc before his demise in “The Rise of Skywalker.” However, Driver felt that this wasn’t the end of the line for his character.

“I always wanted to do another ‘Star Wars’,” Driver shared in a recent interview. “I had discussions about a new project back in 2021. Kathleen reached out, and I said: with a compelling director and narrative, I’d be there immediately. I cherished playing that character.”

Driver outlined an intriguing concept for the film, for which Steven Soderbergh had crafted a script that Driver remarked was “one of the coolest scripts I had ever been involved with.”

“We presented our script to Lucasfilm, and they were enthusiastic about the concept,”Driver recalled. “They understood our direction and rationale. But when we took it to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman, they declined, stating they didn’t envision how Ben Solo could come back. That was the end of it.”

Initially titled “The Hunt for Ben Solo,” Driver noted, “But it’s no longer happening, so I can finally share this.”

Soderbergh added, “I genuinely enjoyed conceptualizing the movie in my mind. It’s unfortunate that fans won’t have the chance to see it.”

Additionally, another project currently in production is “Star Wars: Starfighter,” which stars Ryan Gosling and is scheduled to hit theatres on May 28, 2027.
