Shashwat Sachdev Reflects on Collaboration with Hans Zimmer for TV Series
Composer Shashwat Sachdev shares insights on teaming up with Hans Zimmer for the British series Virdee.
Music composer Shashwat Sachdev recently opened up about his experience working alongside Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer.
Reflections on Collaboration
Shashwat described his collaboration as a serendipitous experience, saying, “When the intention is pure, the right people just appear. This partnership has been built on honesty, curiosity, and immense respect for both Hans and James.” His musical journey includes notable works like Uri: The Surgical Strike and the recent web series The Ba***s of Bollywood. He is currently composing the title theme for the British TV series Virdee alongside Hans and James Newton Howard.
He added, “My sound carries a bit of Rajasthan dust, a bit of Bombay rain, and lots of heart. When this spirit combines with cinema, something authentic comes alive. You don’t chase moments like these; they find you when you’re prepared.”
International Collaboration
Earlier, Shashwat expressed his excitement about working on an international level. He remarked, “From Mumbai to Los Angeles, it’s all connected by the same heartbeat. This collaboration is a blend of humility, pride, and soulful resonance—it’s a reminder that music isn’t merely created; it’s remembered.”
He also referred to his musical journey as nomadic, describing it as a soul searching through diverse cultures. Working with Hans and James introduced him to an exceptionally beautiful realm of music.
About the Series
Virdee is a six-part British crime thriller featuring Staz Nair as a detective pursuing a serial killer within the Asian community in Bradford. It boasts a substantial cast of British-Asian actors and is adapted from A A Dhand’s crime novels.
This project marks a significant leap for Shashwat Sachdev, showcasing his Indian musical influences on a global stage. Hans Zimmer has previously collaborated with Indian artists and is preparing for his Bollywood debut alongside AR Rahman for Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part adaptation of Ramayana.
