Zahan Kapoor, an actor and trustee of the theatre, expressed his amusement at the public reaction to the video. “Every October, for the last decade, we close down for maintenance while preparing for the festival. This year, the communication about it was presented in a more dramatic way,” he said.

He continued, “While we usually convey this information in person, this is the first year it was done through a video. The reactions showed a deep affection for the place, which was both surprising and gratifying.”

Value of Theatre in Zahan’s Life

Zahan shared that Prithvi Theatre holds immense significance in his life, calling it “the second biggest influence after my parents.” He credited the venue for exposing him to art, culture, and diverse people from around the country.

Nonetheless, he also pointed out the financial challenges of sustaining a career in theatre. “It’s tough to rely solely on stage performances for a living,” he said. He reflected on how his grandfather initially found joy in theatre before considering the economic viability of a career in films.

Future of Live Performance

Zahan highlighted the enduring importance of theatre in today’s digital world. “In an oversaturated digital landscape, we are likely to recognize the true value of live performances,” he predicted. He emphasized that the demand for authenticity will grow, making theatre increasingly relevant.
